ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As the number of TBEX riders attending our training events increases, so does the need for additional rider support.

TBEX Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities

Phase 1 Moto Simulator - Safety Instructor
Objective:
To provide a safe and controlled environment for survivors to experience riding again with the help of a motorcycle simulator.
Details:

Volunteer Coordination: Four trained volunteers will be present to assist participants with mobility aids and ensure they are comfortably and safely secured to the simulator.

Equipment Handling: Volunteers will handle the transfer of personal equipment such as wheelchairs and canes, ensuring these items are within reach when the simulation is complete.

Safety Procedures: Kevin, our simulation expert (referred to as Apex), will instruct volunteers on specific tasks to ensure the safety and comfort of the survivors during the simulation.

Training: Prior to the event, volunteers will receive training on how to use the simulator, including emergency stop procedures and comfort adjustments.

Phase 2(A) Catch and Release - Safety instructor
Objective:
To facilitate a smooth transition for survivors from the simulator experience on to a motorcycle adapted to their specific needs gaining confidence and comfortability.
Details:

Team Allocation: Eight volunteers will be divided into two teams: one at the catch zone and one at the release zone.

Transition Management: The catch zone team will be responsible for helping survivors dismount from the motorcycle and prepare for the course ride. The release zone team will assist with the initial launch onto the course. Responsible for helping survivors mount the motorcycle.

Minimum Presence: At any given time, there will be at least three volunteers at both the catch and release zones to maintain safety and support.

Phase 2(B) Course Riding Phase - Safety Instructor
Objective:
To provide survivors with an opportunity to ride on a specially designed course that accommodates their needs.
Details:

Course Setup: Volunteers will assist in setting up the course, ensuring that it meets safety standards and is suitable for the survivors.

Safety Monitoring: Stations will be set up around the course with assigned volunteers to monitor safety and provide assistance as needed while the course is active.

Emergency Protocols: All volunteers will be briefed on emergency protocols, including how to quickly deactivate the course and provide aid in the event of an incident.

Phase 3 Survivor Testimony - Event Coordinator
Objective:
To gather valuable feedback and testimonies from survivors that can be used for program improvement and promotional purposes.
Details:

Interview Coordination: 215 Moto (referred to as Gerald) will conduct interviews with a pre-established list of questions.

Time Management: Interviews will be capped at 7-12 minutes to ensure all survivors have the opportunity to share their experiences. This translates to about 3-5 questions per interview.

Training for 215 Moto: 215 Moto will be briefed on the importance of time management during the interviews and will be provided with a timer or a volunteer timekeeper if necessary.
